Different Sphere Forms Require Different Specifications

Terms such as G10, G25 or “high precision” do not fully define a titanium-ball requirement. The purchase specification should identify the required diameter tolerance, diameter variation, roundness or spherical-form deviation, lot variation, surface finish and agreed inspection method.

About G-Grade Terminology

If a customer uses G-grade terminology, HELE reviews the underlying dimensional and surface requirements individually against the drawing or purchase specification. ISO 3290-1 itself is scoped to finished steel balls for rolling bearings and should not be treated as blanket finished-product compliance for titanium balls.

What is the difference between a solid titanium ball and a hollow titanium sphere?

Depending on the product form and purchase requirements, inspection can cover diameter, roundness, surface condition, custom-machined geometry, wall thickness and other drawing-defined characteristics. Documentation can include the MTC, heat or lot traceability, dimensional inspection records and agreed functional-test reports where applicable. Measurement method, sampling scope and report format should be confirmed during quotation when tight tolerances or functional testing are required.
What information should I provide for a titanium ball or sphere quote?
Please provide the product form, titanium grade or UNS, diameter or key geometry, quantity, application and delivery destination. For solid precision balls, include dimensional tolerance, roundness and surface requirements. For hollow spheres or floats, include wall thickness and functional-test requirements. For valve-ball or modified components, provide the drawing with ports, holes, threads, interfaces, datums and GD&T where applicable. Uploading a drawing or purchase specification is recommended for custom and precision components.
